Bringing a Hibernating Project Into the Light
Are you the kind of knitter who has several unfinished projects lying around that you just can't seem to complete? Or - are you the kind who always makes sure to finish up what you've started - at least within a reasonable amount of time? I'd definitely say I'm the latter. Except from the fact that I have this one project which I started years ago - 4 years at least! It's almost embarrassing and not at all typical for me.
It's a pullover knitted in DUO Merino Wool from Design.club.dk that I decided to design myself. The problem is, though, that I'd make many thing different if I were to start the project now. I've learned so much about knitting the past couple of years and now I'm just not really into finishing this pullover. But it's knitted on 2,5 mm needles, 2 x 2 ribbing, sooo time consuming. Besides, as I've finished the front, almost the back, and the sleeves are nearly half-way, I just can't bring myself to frog it.
If I need to frog something it'll be the neck. I'm not satisfied with the way it is but I haven't decided how I want it to turn out either. I need to think about it and try and finish this project ASAP!

2.5mm needles! 2x2 ribbing! Man, I don't even knit socks on 2.5mm needles. That's some knitting fortitude right there. Good luck getting it finished up and finessed into shape! The color is great.
I'm like you and tend to finish up projects one at a time...however there's always one that escapes and sits lonely waiting for it's turn!
I feel your indecision about what to do...that is a lot of hard work to frog...but if you're not going to be happy with it then it may be worth it?
one never knows, this might be a favorite of yours once finished. this just happened to me with a cardigan i had laying around for at least a year . the color and stitch pattern looks lovely.
wow quite the decision! i took a deep-breath when i pulled my mitten apart that was basically finished!
Oh, yes. I'm a finishing freak, but have had a patchwork lap blanket sitting around for ages. Although it may not be exactly your cup of tea, I think the sweater looks really good. Best of luck with the final push!
I am the latter, too. I finish what I start, because mentally it prepares me for whatever the next project will be.
Good luck with finishing your 4-year old project. I think what you're experiencing is some sort of mental block over it, but once you get into stitching it together, it'll be fine. It could just be your avoiding starting it! (A glass of fine wine could help. Perhaps a piece of chocolate!)
