Marlene

I finally finished the Marlene socks by Cookie A. from Knit.1 Magazine. They are knitted with Shibui sock yarn, which Karin gave me. She and I had a little Shibui knitalong. (She finished her socks over a month ago.)

I love the golden semi solid color (called Honey) even though you can't predict exactly how the color turns out. On these socks the color expression changed at the foot. I like the color on the cuff best as there is a better blend of light and dark.

It was a real pleasure to knit with this yarn using 2.5mm Knit Picks dpns. Lucky me, I have more Shibui Sock in my stash.

Shibui on a Sunday

Today was the sunniest day we've had for a long time and even though it's only early February, it reminds me of the spring, which can't be that far away.

The other day I received a fabulous and unexpected present from Karin. It was the most wonderful sock yarn one can imagine: Shibui Sock in a so, so beautiful color (it looks like caramel). Yesterday, when Karin had invited a few knitters over, she and I started a Shibui knit along. I casted on for a Cookie A. pattern, Marlene from the latest knit.1 magazine. I love it already!

I'm using my new Knit Picks dpn's - only 15 cm long - and the combination of these needles and my new Shibui yarn makes knitting such a pleasure. ... It's true!

Knitted Christmas Presents #2

Two pairs of socks were gifted away this Christmas.

These are the fabulous Gentleman's Shooting Stockings by Nancy Bush made for my father. I really like the stitch pattern which makes the socks a bit more sophisticated than regular, plain men's socks.

The yarn is soft like a dream (contains silk) so I'll definately use it again.

Pattern: Gentleman's Shooting Stockings with Fluted Pattern by Nancy Bush from Knitting Vintage Socks
Yarn: Regia Silk 4-ply by Schachenmayr nomotta
Needles: 2 mm

The second pair are these striped socks, almost knee length, for my niece. She's 5 years old so I thought she would like these color tones.

Pattern: None
Yarn: Ranco Multy by Araucania and some gray sock yarn from my stash.
Needles: 2,5 mm
